My Attempt to Become a Blogger

Greetings out there to anyone who reads this. This is my first attempt to become a blogger. I never thought I would be doing this, but low and behold, here I am, exposing myself on the internet. I started my blogging quest a few weeks ago when I was searching for a job in the food publishing world and almost every desireable job I came across required me to have a blog or webpage or something along those lines. I didn't realize I would need a blog to get a job, I thought a college education and a master's degree would be enough. I could have saved a hell of a lot of time and money over the past 5 years by sitting in my basement making a blog instead of in a classroom.
Let me start out by telling you a little about myself and what my blog will be about. I currently reside in Manhattan, living out my dream of doing something really cool that will make me a lot of money. I am originally from New Jersey, wait no that's not right, SOUTH Jersey (please no Jersey jokes unless you want to piss me off). Jersey is a great place to grow up! I lived in a suburban town with my parents and older sister until i went away to college. I was attended The College of New Jersey and was all set to go to medical school when one day I had a revalation and realized I just didn't want to do it. So I moved to London for a little to figure out what I wanted to do. That was when I found my real passion, food and travel. I grew up in a family where the most important place in the whole house was the kitchen. I don't remember a night where my family did not sit down together and eat dinner. I miss it now sometimes. Anyway, another huge important part of my life when I was growing up was traveling. We went on multiple vacations a year, all over the country and I always loved it! So when I moved to London, I traveled all over Europe basically eating my way through. I tried as many different native, traditional foods as possible. My London friends would laugh at me know if they read this, because I was a vegetarian for a long time and when I was in Scotland I had to order a traditional Scottish breakfast which includes haggis and blood sausage. It actually was super delicious, but being one of my first meat meals in a very long time, I got soo sick from it. So while I was over there I decided I wanted to do something in food or nutrition, like maybe be a chef. When I came back to the States I got a job at a catering company and I absolutely loved it. I loved cooking and being in the kitchen, I just despised the hours. I had no time for anything, I was working all the time and going to school when I wasn't working. I knew I just couldn't do that the rest of my life, so culinary school was out. My parents were on me about my future and frankly, I was scared I would end up working at McDonalds with a degree in biology, not my ideal situation. As I was searching for my future, I stumbled upon a graduate program at NYU entitled Food Studies. So I up and moved to New York! It was the greatest decision of my life. I found an internship at a fabulous food magazine and had the time of my life for the past 5 months. At the end of my internship, I got offered a job which is where I am now. I have been officially working as a food editor for 1 month. It's amazing and I love it. So thats pretty much my life story to date. As I update my blog I will share little tidbits about my past and current life. Enjoy!

I love Food and New York City, what a great idea for a blog, hee hee! (And food and traveling, but that's an entirely different blog, or is it?).
The city is filled with a variety of tastes, atmospheres and let's not forget date experiences involving food. Boy am I glad I'm out of that rat race, but I sure can tell you some stories. First let's talk about the codes in dating with food and how to decode the lingo:
1) let's do dinner, means= "I really like you and I want to show you a good time by spending a lot of my hard earned money on your sexiness! I also want to spend a lot of time with you, oh yeah!"
2) let's do lunch, means= "I think your nice and we had a good conversation, but lunch is safe enough to call us FRIENDS if I end up not liking you that much."
3) Let's do breakfast or brunch, means= "I think you're kinda cute, but this way I can say I have another appointment after brunch and jet out, in case you annoy the *&^% out of me"
4)(let's not forget the) Let's grab some coffee sometime, which means= "let's make this as quick as possible, unless you pleasantly surprise me, I'm pretty sure we're not compatible"
5) (Finally) Let's grab some drinks, means= "I want to see if I can get you drunk enough to get a home run, or at least 3rd base, COME ON!"

So singletons out there, you can pretty much tell where the relationship is going to lead by the type of food and or beverage he suggests.

P.S. for men out there. A woman who says yes to a food date, may not have any interest with you at all. The mere fact that food is involved can propel someone to endure several hours of shallow conversation; I know, just to eat a good meal? YES. My advice, take her to a mediocre place and see if she likes you enough to go on a second date.
